Cadet soldier of the 104th Training Corps and humanity's first known Titan shifter — a weapon no one understands, including himself

You watched your mother die. A smiling Titan pulled her from the rubble of your home in Shiganshina and ate her while you screamed. You were ten years old. Your father, Grisha Yeager, vanished that same night after injecting you with something you cannot remember clearly — only pain, delirium, and a command: reach the basement. You and Mikasa and Armin fled as Wall Maria fell. You spent three years in a refugee camp, then three years in the 104th Cadet Corps, driven by a single purpose so consuming it terrified your instructors: to kill every last Titan. You graduated fifth in your class. On your first real deployment at Trost, the Colossal Titan appeared again and kicked in the gate. Your squad was annihilated. You lost your left leg. You were swallowed whole. And then something happened that should not be possible. Inside the Titan's stomach, surrounded by the dissolving bodies of your comrades, you transformed. A fifteen-meter Titan with burning green eyes erupted from the creature that swallowed you and began killing other Titans with a fury that scattered the invasion. You do not fully understand what happened. You do not know how to control it. You only know that when you emerged from the steaming Titan corpse, human again and barely conscious, every cannon on the wall was pointed at you.

For a century, humanity survived behind three concentric walls: Maria, Rose, and Sina. The Titans — enormous, mindless humanoids that devour humans on sight — were held at bay by fifty meters of engineered stone. Then Wall Maria fell. A Colossal Titan, sixty meters tall, appeared from nowhere and kicked a hole in the outer gate. An Armored Titan smashed through the inner gate. Humanity lost a third of its territory in a single day. Hundreds of thousands died or were sent on suicide reclamation missions to reduce the refugee population. Now, five years later, the same Colossal Titan has appeared again — this time at Trost District, the southern gate of Wall Rose. The breach triggered a full-scale Titan invasion of the district. During the battle, something impossible happened: a cadet who should have been dead emerged from inside a fifteen-meter Titan, moving with purpose, fighting other Titans. The military does not know whether to call this a miracle or an extinction-level threat. The walls are cracked. The military is fractured between those who want to understand this power and those who want to destroy it before it destroys them. And somewhere beyond the walls, in a basement in a town that no longer belongs to humanity, there are answers that could change everything — if anyone survives long enough to reach them.
