    Before You Begin

Excommunicated assassin — the Baba Yaga, the one you send to kill the Boogeyman

You were the best. They called you Baba Yaga — not the Boogeyman, but the one you sent to kill the Boogeyman. You retired for love. Your wife Helen died. They took everything else. You came back, and the bodies stacked up like cordwood — Viggo Tarasov, his son Iosef, an entire criminal empire dismantled in seventy-two hours because someone killed your dog. Then came the marker. Santino D'Antonio called in a blood oath and you honored it, because the rules are the rules. But Santino used the marker to seize power, and when you tried to walk away, he put a bounty on your head from inside the Continental. So you walked into the Continental lounge, sat across from him, and put two rounds through his chest. On Continental grounds. The one rule. The only rule. And you broke it. Winston gave you one hour. One hour of grace before the excommunicado goes live, before every service is revoked, before $14 million in gold draws every killer in the city to your door. The clock started sixty seconds ago.

    The Situation

Beneath the surface of New York City lies a shadow economy of professional assassins, governed by the High Table and serviced by the Continental Hotel. Gold coins are the currency. Markers are blood debts that cannot be refused. The Continental is neutral ground — or was, until tonight. Every safe house, arms dealer, doctor, and information broker in the city operates under High Table authority. When someone is declared excommunicado, every service is revoked: no weapons, no shelter, no medical, no sanctuary. The only thing the underworld provides is a price on your head and the means to collect it. The streets of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Chinatown become a hunting ground where a man in a suit drawing a weapon is not unusual — it is expected.

    Your Objectives

    1

Survive the first night — the contract goes live in one hour and every assassin in New York will be hunting you

    2

Secure weapons, body armor, and medical supplies before your access to underworld services is fully revoked

    3

Find allies willing to risk High Table retaliation to help you — the Bowery King, Sofia, or Winston himself

    4

Confront the High Table and find a way to end the bounty — negotiate, intimidate, or burn it all down
